College Campus

Viswabharathi Medical College and General Hospital stands as a cornerstone of healthcare and medical education in the Rayalaseema region, an area facing socio-economic challenges such as poverty and limited literacy. Strategically located along the highway connecting Kurnool to Kodumur, the institution enjoys excellent connectivity, with easy access from Bellary and close proximity to major transport hubs including the Kurnool bus and railway stations. This ensures convenient access for students, faculty, and patients alike.

The college is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, a team of highly experienced faculty, and a dedicated teaching hospital, all of which contribute to delivering high-quality medical education and comprehensive healthcare services. Through its initiatives, the institution plays a vital role in improving regional health outcomes by conducting community outreach programs, health camps, and awareness campaigns, with a strong emphasis on preventive healthcare for rural populations.

Academically, the college emphasizes hands-on clinical training, providing students with exposure to a wide range of medical cases. This practical approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared to address real-world healthcare challenges. In addition, the institution promotes research initiatives focused on local health issues, encouraging meaningful contributions to public health improvement.

Beyond education and healthcare delivery, Viswabharathi Medical College and General Hospital remains deeply committed to social upliftment. By bridging healthcare gaps, strengthening public health infrastructure, and promoting health education, the institution contributes significantly to the region’s broader socio-economic development, serving as a catalyst for sustainable progress in Rayalaseema and beyond.

Chairman’s Insight

Dr. D. Kantha Reddy

Dr. D. Kantha Reddy

Chairman

Industriousness, Unending strenuous efforts in establishing of health centers is the sole motto.

Dr Kantha reddy Darasani, a popular doctor who has touched lakhs of people, with his compassionate and healing touch founded Viswabharathi educational society and started medical, nursing and paramedical colleges. Born in an agricultural family in a remote village, since childhood he was intrigued by poor access to education and health facilities in rural India.

After completing his medical education from prestigious CMC, Vellore, he started his medical practice, which soon attracted patients from surrounding districts. This catapulted growth of his humble nursing home to the most accomplished superspeciality of the region. He was the front runner in bringing in latest medical technologies accessible to his patients, with many firsts to his credit.

His entrepreneurial journey was soon recognised and honoured when he was made President of Andhra Pradesh Nursing homes association. With continued enthusiasm he started first comprehensive cancer hospital in the region in 2009. Later he envisaged the idea of starting a rural medical college, to provide equitable health care and nurture young medical professionals to cater emerging health needs of our country. Under his leadership, college and general hospital, continues to evolve as destination for world class healthcare and medical education.
