The Department of Pharmacology imparts undergraduate and postgraduate training to MBBS, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Paramedical students, focusing on drug mechanisms, therapeutic uses, pharmacokinetics, and rational prescribing. The department supports Viswabharathi General Hospital with active contributions to pharmacovigilance, adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring, and antibiotic policy formulation. Faculty participate in the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, enhancing hospital-based medication safety practices.
Faculty members have contributed to national and international journals, producing over 100 publications across domains such as clinical pharmacology, toxicology, and herbal medicine. Research infrastructure includes spectrophotometers, super speed kymographs, incubators, diuretic cages, and hot water baths.
