The Department of Ophthalmology at Viswabharathi Medical College is dedicated to preserving and restoring sight through comprehensive eye care, innovative teaching, and impactful community service. We are committed to excellence in clinical care, surgical innovation, and training future ophthalmologists to serve society with empathy and precision.

Departmental Overview

Established as a core clinical department, the Department of Ophthalmology is fully equipped for outpatient, inpatient, and surgical services. It features modern diagnostic tools, minor and major OT facilities, and specialty clinics. The faculty and residents are actively involved in training, surgical skill-building, and rural outreach programs.

Strategic Objectives and Annual Targets

  • Achieve 100% CBME compliance with OSCE implementation for UG training.
  • Perform >500 cataract surgeries/year under NPCBVI initiatives.
  • Organize at least 4 vision screening camps annually in peripheral areas.
  • Promote PG participation in national-level ophthalmology conferences.
  • Establish a dedicated pediatric ophthalmology clinic and glaucoma screening unit.
